    Default Dishwasher recommendations?

We may need a new dishwasher. Any recommendations of what brand to buy or what to avoid? Thank you for your thoughts.

We have a Frigidaire Gallery and I love it except for one thing, the door. It is noisy, we have tried several different types of lubrication, dry silicone, graphite, CLP etc and nothing quiets the sound. It is now out of warranty so no use calling the manufacturer.
Next one we buy I am going to open and close the doors on several before deciding.

We bought a Bosch when our son was a baby for exactly this reason - it's QUIET!!! When we moved out of that place we yanked out the dishwasher and took it with us! We still have it (13 years later!)

Energy saving because the price for electricity and water keeps going up. I like to be able to choose a cycle. Sometimes a light wash is all I need not a whole long cycle. I also buy local so if a problem comes up, I can get a repair man in.

I like our Maytag, too - when we first got it, we kept checking to make sure it was on because it was so quiet. Our previous d/w was so noisy, we didn't even use it if someone was trying to watch television.

When shopping for a dishwasher, I told clerk that all dishwashers clean--I want the quietest one! Bosch was under 50 decibels! You actually have to stop talking and be quiet right next to it- to hear if it is on or not! Still very happy 2 years later. BTW, it had a third rack up top for large flat items (butcher knives, spatulas)

My 21yr old Bosch was so quiet- I loved it until it 'bit the dust'. No repair service for that brand within 100 miles! So 2 dish loads later, I can't believe how quiet my new Whirlpool is..can't even hear water running in. Several wash options include "1 hr wash", which is all I need for me. And it has two dry choices. I am very pleased. Could have gotten the model with extra rack above for knives, spatulas, but additional cost not worth it for me. My DW installed for $59, making total cost just under $800.
