Scrappy RWB

Scrappy RWB
Several years ago I participated in a BOM using red, white and blue reproduction fabrics. I kept the leftovers, but most were pretty small pieces. Finally figured out a way to use them in what is probably considered a "controlled" scrappy. I always think I am going to have enough scraps then don't. That's the thing I usually run into when I make a scrappy. Luckily my friend who also made the same BOM quilt gave me her leftovers too. The 9 patch's are made with 2 inch squares as well as the stars. Had to do some math to figure out the flying geese size but it all came together in the end. I mainly did ditch quilting, but on the 9 patches I did my first ruler quilting using a straight ruler and making a star motif. It is lap size at 53 x 70.

This is a beautiful quilt! I applaud you for all those Flying geese. That is something I really dislike making. I thought it would go easier making more at a time. I enjoyed that a little better but my block wasn’t correct to size up. My seams were consistent but not a scant 1/4 inch. I just got frustrated trying to find a correct way. You really have made a beautiful quilt. No one would believe it was from scraps.
