When you donate quilts to local charities, do you sign them?

I donate a couple quilts every year to a charity auction. I don't sign them but will date them.

We have embroidered signature block with our groups name that goes on the back. I sew a small block to batting with my initials and date.

SOMETIMES I had my label to them, but usually not.

I haven't signed mine. Putting the date on it is a good idea, though.

I usually just sign my first name and my state, so the recipient knows where the love came from...

We label our Project Linus quilts and people are more than welcome to put a tag with their info on them if they choose. There is a poem that is usually tied to them with the motto and what our mission is.

I think some sort of information should be included on each quilt. The date, city, county and state, the purpose of the quilt should be the minimun. It is good to put your first and middle initial along with your last name as the person sewing the quilt.

The more info you include on your label the more monetary value it adds for future generations.

On my labels I include (hand written): My name, who it is for, name of quilt, the date, state and town. And for charity quilts I write who the quilt was made in honor of. These were raffle quilts.

I usually go by the guidelines of each charity, but full name is never an option because of security issues now. If anyone wants to say "thank you" to you, they can do it through the charity. I've received phone calls and notes that way.
