I'm using some Kaffe Fassett prints + basics (solids & polka dots) for the Farmer's Wife blocks. I've just started thinking about what kind of sashing to use. Normally, I have a neutral or white fabric as background but this is a scrappy quilt made from stash.

Any suggestions for the type of sashing and/or cornerstone fabrics?

With 111 different blocks and fabric combos, you might want to audition several different fabrics.

You might get some ideas from this thread .... and post on it too, as it's become the central point for this discussion ...

Black sashing would make the bright colors really POP

If you want to keep the scrappy look but you need to separate the blocks with sashing, try a narrow strip of sashing (1/2" finished perhaps) with mixed fabrics in the corner blocks. You can even use HST's or QST's for the corner blocks.

I agree that dark sashing will really allow those colors to shine. Black would work, as would dark brown or charcoal. I would use scraps from the blocks for cornerstones.

ETA: I think navy blue would work nicely, too!
