Okay gang you asked for it and you got it! This will be a thread dedicated strictly to the attachments for the vintage sewing machines. It will be interesting to see what pops up in this thread and what we can learn from each other on their uses. So feel free to post away and make sure we have lots of photos so we can see them in action!

    Thanks Billy,
DH is in the middle of restoring cabinet & cleaning (per your tute) my 1935 Treadle. Didn't come with any attachments so now I'll know what I need :)

 Now I might have to learn how to use some of the many attachments that I have collected in order to be able to post photos. The ruffler is the one I am most interested in.

Here's a common foot just to get it out of the way. ;)

    Singer Rolled Hem Stitch Attachment
    "SIMANCO 120855"

This one is in nearly everyone's attachment box.
I've used it to hem a table skirt for the cutting table in my sewing room.
This is demonstrated on my 221.
It takes a little practice, but using "Londa's Technique" as I found on you tube, it's not as difficult as you may think!

Ok here goes with over 30 photos I haven't demonstrated all because I don't have machines for all.

My old Sears Commander with a zig zag attachment

I tested it out - it will NEVER replace my Singer 403. I had a tough time trying to adjust it's width. At first it was hung up on the thread cutter.

Then I got the darning foot out and tested it. I've never used one so it was pretty exciting to test.

Then I dug out a hemmer - I used one once on a Viking and was totally frustrated. I can see how this one is a bit easier to use. It is a bit wider hem than I tried before.
