Here are some prototype shoulder totes that seemed to work and I have made some based on these models, or variations thereof.
The first is a small shoulder tote with one outside pocket. The second picture is of the same tote w/ the recurring feature of all of the shoulder totes I have made; The key lanyard. My wife suggested these as an aid to finding your keys without having to go dumpster diving looking for them. She carries her keys, and a small coin purse attached to the lanyard, and never has to bother about finding either of them. The third picture is of a slightly larger shoulder tote but with three outside pockets, and w/ lanyard. The last 2 pictures are of the large Backpack and it's interior. No outside pockets or lanyard, but 6 interior pockets around the perimeter of the inside. Of course exterior pockets could be added.

Great idea for the keys-they look really sturdy and I love the fabrics you chose.

    Great bags!
On large totes, I usually put 2 lanyards, different colors. One for keys, one for a small detachable "change" purse. about the size of a pencil case, large enough to put a checkbook in. The one I have my keys on is long enough where I don't have to detach it to actually drive the car. Just put the bag on the seat. If I detach the keys, they are gone. It's like the tote bag is just a big key fob.

Fantastic totes/backpacks. Need to try the key lanyard on my next bag.
