Hi, if you could share with me your rice pudding recipe, I would really appreciate it. I would like to find one that has Rose water as one of its ingredient. Many thanks.

I googled "Recipe for rosewater rice pudding" and got lots and lots of recipes - too many to post here. If you go to http://www.google.com I'm sure you'll something you'll like.

Hi Carol, I will check it out. I just thought someone had a secret recipe that they wouldn't mind sharing. I always enjoy having somebody give me their best recipe.

    Many thanks.

I understand. Good luck with getting someone's family secret recipe. I'm sure if anyone on the board has one, they'll be willing to share.

However, I doubt if many of us even have rosewater in our kitchens. I don't remember ever seeing it in a grocery store and, come to think of it, wouldn't know where to look for it. Maybe where you'd find vanilla extract? Maybe in a restaurant supply store? In an ethnic specialty store?Online? Do you have any? Where did you get it? What do you do with it?

Hi, I just purchased some in a Libanese grocery stores. Most common in Middle East countries in desserts recipes such as Baklava, cakes, puddings. I am still hoping for a family secret recipe. A step closer but no there yet.

My family has used only this recipe for the past 60 years (at least!)

    Ingredients:
    1 quart milk
    ½ cup sugar
    1/3 cup rice
    1/8 tsp. salt
    ¼ tsp. nutmeg
    2 Tbl. butter
Add cinnamon or raisins as desired
    Directions:
    1. Combine ingredients in pan.
    2. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 ½ hours, stirring every 15 minutes.
    3. Good warm or cold.
    4. (A double recipe fits perfectly in a 9” X 13” pan.)

This is an old recipe from my late DMIL. It is very creamy and I think you could add rose water to it if you wanted to substitute it for some of the liquid.

    Katherine's Rice Pudding

    6 Cups Milk
    1 Cup Rice
    1/2 Cup Sugar
    2 Cinnamon Sticks
    2 Egg Yolks
    1 1/2 Teaspoons Vanilla
    3 Egg Whites
    1/4 Cup Sugar

Rinse rice well under running water to remove dirt and any debris, drain well

    1. Combine milk, rice, 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon sticks

    2. Bring to a full boil; then lower to simmer

    3. Cook about an half hour or until rice is tender

    4. Remove from heat

    5. Separate eggs; add milk rice mixture slowly to yolks until yolks are same temperature as milk

    6. Fold yolks into milk rice mixture and return to heat

    7. Add vanilla

    8. Beat egg whites to form soft peaks; add 1/4 cup sugar and beat until fairly firm

    9. Start folding milk rice mixture into egg whites a little at a time until mixture thickens

    10. Cool and serve, or serve warm

    11. If you like raisins, add the amount you want to mixture while still hot.

Thank you so much. Somehow I prefer to try a family secret recipe. I will try both and let you know how I made out. Good evening and many thanks to all of you.
