Some may remember my old one--12 by 7 and quite cozy. My daughter wanted me to take her bedroom, but she's graduating from college in May, and I'm not comfortable taking her room until she's married. So, hubby and I had the idea to switch the library and the sewing room. I knew it'd be a huge job, so was going to wait until Christmas break to tackle it, but there seemed to be time over Thanksgiving break. So, the switch was made. What a change!!!!

First, the old sewing room, then how that transformed into a library (we got rid of a LOT of books), then the new sewing room! The kitchen table was my cutting table, so we went shopping for a new cutting table, but ended up buying a new kitchen table! Our old one only holds six, so since our family is growing, it was time to expand; the new one can hold 10 if we need it to. :-D

    Remember this one?

    It worked.

    Now the library!

Okay--last one of the library so you can see the NEW SEWING ROOM!!

    Headed in... I'm so excited!

See the rocking chair with the green seat? My grandmother's brother made that for her. She gave it to me. I treasure it. The quilt I made her hangs on my sewing chair.

Cutting table (prior kitchen table). All my scraps fit underneath! I'm still wondering where the best place for that thread holder is.

Sneak peek--students' bookmarks just need tassels and beads.

I still need to straighten up some strips!

    The stash.

Books are organized with grandkids in mind--although they are about 5 years away yet. ;-)

The ironing board will just be moved where it's out of the way.

More watercolor floral log cabin squares under way. Many new strips have been cut!

I noticed you said you got rid of a lot of library books but didn't see anything about getting rid of any quilting stuff. LOL

The new library seems cozy as a library should be & your new sewing room seems large as a sewing room should be!

    Great move to move!

I've missed seeing your posts. How nice to have the extra room for your quilting.:-) Everything is so nicely organized and your rooms look so inviting. Here's wishing you many hours of happiness in your new surroundings...

I love your new spaces - both the library and the sewing room! I loved how you had your old room set up with the ladder shelves full of strips, it looked so country cute!

Thanks! I plan on making some doll quilts first, and maybe wall hangings... then another quilt. I have been collecting more fabrics and made some changes to the design strip and color wise.

We also have many books. There are at least 500 in my daughter's room and she has many at college. There's more in my bedroom. There were maybe 3000 in library, stacked and double rowed. But, hubby and I are getting rid of "stuff". I get books out of the library now. Fourteen bags are going to the library, four bags are going to a new teacher friend, one bag of Ideals is going to the asst living place, and many bags went to school. 90% of the books in the new library are here because I'm a teacher and because my kids had MANY books as they grew. Once I retire, many more can go. There are at least 10 boxes of books in the attic waiting to be moved to the kids' new homes when they're ready. I can't wait to be the "reading grandma." I have all the easy first readers, Dick and Janes, my Patricia Polacco and quilting picture book collections, and my kids' favorite picture books waiting for when it's time. So much to look forward to.

    :-D :-D :-D
