Last evening I drew a new block, colored it, and saved it to my sketchbook, and I also click the icon on the left screen that saves it-not sure what that does! . When I went to my quilt layout and brought up my sketchbook of blocks, my new block was there, but it wasn't the colored version...I exited the program, went back in, and then my colored block appeared in my sketchbook. Happens every time I save something new....I hit that save button a lot, because in the past, I worked on a layout for a long time, and the program froze, and I lost the whole project because I hadn't yet saved any of it!

When you go into your sketchbook you will see the block without color. just look below it to find the arrows. all you have to do is click on the right arrow to see the next color version of that block. The sketchbook stores up to 10 versions of a block in one place. You will see the block without color and then you click to see the next one and you will see the first color combo you saved. When you change colors in your quilt or block on the worktable the sketchbook will save every change you make. so when you go into sketchbook to see your block or quilt you will find several color versions of that same block in one place. you just have to click the right arrow to see the next one in the "pile" of blocks. as if you had stacked several blocks on top of each other. hope that makes sense.

As for the saving you dont' have to do both one or the other will save it. It is quicker to just click on the sketchbook pic that saves it than to go to the menu and find save.

Ahhhhh...........thank you so much for the lightbulb moment!! haha. Yep. The colored blocks are right there "under" the original block! Technology is a dangerous thing in the hands of an old person! (me!)

Sorry it took me a bit to figure out what your problem was. That's why I ask alot of questions. It occurred to me that I don't think I addressed that issue in the lessons. Hmm may have to add another lesson on using the sketchbook.
I have similar problems when using a new site. It is so annoying to hunt for functions that should be in front of your face but I can't find what I am looking for LOL

I bought a new printer and do you think I could find where to see how much ink I had left? I even resorted LOL to the help manual and still had trouble. I finally noticed when I went into my control panel and then the printer I want to use and there is a menu where it says printer status and ink information. Duh! It only took me weeks to find this LOL

I am back again.....this is probably very easy, but can't figure it out. I am designing a quilt with borders, and after adding 7 borders, some of them pieced blocks, I decide I need to add an extra border to the top and bottom to turn it into a rectangular layout rather than a square quilt. Make sense? So....is there a way to add a border between 2 borders that I have already set? I am resorting to deleting border 7, adding the new border to top and bottom, and then redoing the border that I deleted....let me attach a pic of what I am working on. The center block is just a representation of the actual appliqued block-I was too lazy to try to figure out how to get the actual design on there!
I scanned and imported my first fabric last night thanks to your tutorial-but I am not going to scan the remaining fabrics...yet! I decided to add the checkerboard row to top and bottom.....

That's really pretty!! As far as I know there isn't any way to add a border between ones already added. I've done the same thing - delete the borders and then add the new one then recreate the ones I deleted. I'd love to see this when you get this quilt made!

Thanks, Rhonda! I can stop trying to figure out how to squeeze in an extra border! . Here is a pic of my quilt prior to deciding to add the 9 patches to elongate it....it's been a lot of fun to design, once I took the plunge and added the first border! I am learning a lot through this project! And the colors on my screen look pretty wonky-they flow together nicely in real life! . I was trying to decide what to do with the corners....ultimately decided to add more of the border blocks.
