okay I have one question, if you use batting do you cut through it too, or not. I am confused about how to use the batting.

Four panels, right side up. Then batting, then backing. Stitch through all. Cut only the top three panels in between the stitching.

My dumb question---If you have 4 identical panels, how can you cut the 4th panel "slightly larger"???

I DO love the look of your teddy bear!

You can add scraps to the side of your fourth panel to make it slightly larger. Sometimes with a panel you are trimming off other motifs.
