Thanks for this tutuorial. I am right now in the process of making a quilt from 3 layer cakes and I have several extra 4 patches that I couldn't use in the body of the quilt. I am working on a piano keys border and am thinking that I could use this fractured 4 patch as interesting corner points to anchor the borders. Thank you for the suggestion. I hope to be posting the quilt top soon in pictures.

I hope everyone can understand this! Its my first tutorial.

Is it listed anywhere, the fabric requirements and final sizes of quilts?

The easiest way to figure out those figures is to make a sample and measure it. A preliminary guess as to finished size of the beginning altered four patch is: each four patch should finish at 3.5" - - 3" when sewn into a center of anything. Each seam = .5" - - looking across the sewn block, there are three seams (1.5 + .5" on either side) from 10" (2-5" squares sewn side by side) so, my guess was off - - it would be 10"-2" 0r 8" finished size. <wave>

You are right! An 8 inch block was the size I was left with when I trimmed my blocks to even them up.
