Dresden Plate Tutorial
#69
For the Dresden Experts -- I'm having trouble deciding whether to (1) zig-zag applique the wheel to my block, or (2) use stitch-in-the ditch in between the spokes and stitch as close to the edge as possible at the points. I read somewhere that if you use an applique method, you run the risk of it bunching up. That worried me and I'm scared to finish it now since my first block is appliqued on!

Jackie --- I don't know if this would work, but you might try putting some 2 sides Steam-A-Seam on the back of the plate and then iron it onto the square of fabric before you stitch it down. I did NOT do that and didn't have any problems. If you don't want to do that, just be sure you lay it on a table (the background fabric and the plate) and pin it REALLY good with small applique pins.
