Default Easy No Pattern Needed Scrappy Lap Quilt

Are you wandering around looking for an easy project? And do you have miscellaneous bits of fabric that don’t seem to go together? It does not matter in this scrappy. If I can make 3 of these already, so can you!

Let’s get crackin’ with some 10-inch squares. We need 20 squares for a lap quilt. Sew a set of 5 squares into a row. Make 4 rows with 5 squares in each row. These rows will be a bit less than 50 inches long. If you want to make the squares out of scraps you certainly can do that instead.

Do you have boxes of strips already cut or maybe a jelly roll or binding scraps? We are going to make 50-inch long strips by piecing them from your scrap heap. The 50-inch strips can vary from 2.5 to 4.5 inches in width, or whatever you want. That’s what I had in my stash. Just use the same width for each 50-incher. I used 13 strips in the quilt shown, but fewer would have worked too.

Sew the strips together in pairs, then sew the pairs to each row of 5 squares. And sew these as shown in the example. Add a pair to the end when you are done. Keep adding until it is the size you want. That was easy!

Thanks for the well-written tutorial on your scrappy. I can picture myself making this as a donation quilt in my sewing circle.
