I need advice. Not sure where I'm off track. But almost all my blocks on this pattern have ended up with the 12.5 inch piece longer than the adjacent. Side whose sum of the 3 )4.5 inch pieces$ by 1/2 inch. I know a few of pieces I cut wRONG my mistake (4.25) , not 4.5. But that explain all of them! .

Zozee, if any of your pieces were cut at 4 1/4" rather than 4 1/2 I think it will not match up. The only other thing I can think of is to be sure your seam allowance is only 1/4"-- if you sew it wider the 4 piece block will be smaller than the final 12 1/2" piece sewn on the end. Maybe you should recut just a new sample of 5 block pieces being sure to cut them at 4 1/2" and assemble them to see if it comes out square. And be sure your starting square in the background fabric is 4 1/2" square on all sides.

Oh, man. I am so embarrassed by all my typos in the last post! Ugh! I was so sleepy that I didn't proofread, but Jeanne, you understood! I will try another sample block based on exact everything . I thought I was being careful before. Guess my sewing and typing are in the same class.

How do you think it'd look if all the horizontal sashing strips matched the center squares, the vertical sashing strips a different shade of that color, and the border a third and darker shade? I ask because I didn't order enough of the grey that I've used for the centers and left side sashing. I could order more to make it all match, or I could use 3 different greys.

The main color of the quilt is pink.

Zozee, I think the different dashing colors would be fine---the pattern would emphasize a column rather than an individual square, but I think that it fine. It is your quilt, and you can create a new look!

Jeanne have you made this quilt in more feminine fabric? I want to thank you for your easy pattern, I am just getting ready to do the binding and I will have finished another quilt.

Ariannaquilts, I have made several others including pastel florals, shades of pink and one in green prints. Unfortunately I donated them before thinking about taking photos, so don't have any to post! Would love to see yours!
