If I look at all the sizes of the pieces, I'm sure I could figure out the size, but what size will the finished block (and border) be? Thanks for the tute. What an interesting way to do a border.

If you can't open up a .docx file because you have an older version of WORD, you could try by downloading Microsoft's Office compatibility pack free. This should allow you to open those files when yours only opens .doc files.

No, you don't need to miter the corners. You can do them with straight cuts, but I like the way that the mitered corners look better.

The blocks are 8"x8" and the matching border is 8" wide. It can be adjusted by using narrower or wider strips.
