    I love your example but when I did it" I wound up with a hole in the middle not sure why but the rest of the octagon looks right.

    Sorry,I wasn't clear. I was wondering what size triangles...45 degree or ? makes up your octagons. I also found the tute, so will try that.

    Thanks so much...why is it that it always makes perfect sense after someone shows you.....this will be a great resources. BTW...kudos to you on all your great toppers. They are so very pretty with each one more beautiful than the last.

    I just bought two books by Sally Collins about making perfect pieced quilt blocks. "The Art of Machine Piecing" and "Drafting for the Creative Quilter" Yes Math. Her method is very detailed and allows so many combinations of after constructing a grid and connecting various cross points. I am just getting into it, but the designs are limitless. Her Piecing book is a wonderful narrative to read. Check your library or Amazon.com.
