I'm not good at tutes, but we go. Hope this helps you!
I would suggest you do all your decorative stitches and embellishments BEFORE you sew the pockets and lining on.
    Have fun!

cut (3) strips 2-1/2 X 17 and 1 tab 3-1/2 X 3. Fold tab in half longwise and stitch one short end and the long end, leaving one short end open and turn and press

with right side up, lay pocket pieces raw edges together and pin

    insert composition book

1 composition book this size, and cut (2) 9 X 10-1/4 for inside pockets and fold and press

close up of size I used

cut (1) from batting, outside cover fabric, and lining fabric 10-1/4 X 16

place outside cover fabric on top of batting and draw a line where ever you want the strips to be. I drew mine in the center with the short ends on the sides

press 2 of the strips under on the long end 1/2 inch. Lay 1 strip on that center line right side UP and line up the unpressed side matching raw edges right sides together and stitch 1/4 inch. Do the same for the other one. **In this sample, I used the white for the center and pink on both sides.

next with right side up, measure 3/4 inch in from left side and sew a piece of velcro with the rough side on this end and a piece the same size of the soft side on the tab and with velcro UP, match raw edges and pin

now press open and topstitch where you pressed it under

turn the flaps to the lining side and this is what it will look like

    this is the outside cover

    finished!

lay your lining on top of the pocket pieces and stitch all around leaving a 3 inch gap for turning
