I just love this and the tut is excellent. I have a block exchange for 12 1/2 " blocks. Trying to figure out the adjustments so this Dresden Dahlia would fit. Any suggestions?

The insert for this one is an equalateral triangle so find a smaller Dresden Plate and see if a smaller equalateral triangle will work with it? The narrower the plate blades, the more over lap you will get so watch it doesn't get too bulky.

I totally missed this thread earlier....thanks for the tute tartan...it's great.....edyta sitar has what she calls shooting star ---offers template ( which I stupidly bought,) and also GO cube die---- but honestly, I prefer your design.......yours looks much better, I like the points extending out into the center.....going to do one!, or maybe more!

Your tutorial is amazing. I wish you lived near me. I'm just starting out and have only finished two tops, and have yet to get them sandwiched and quilted. Seeing this post makes me want to get my current projects finished so I can try something like this. I loved the finished photo and you explained it so well.

Oh thank you for the tute!

Just found this thread today - thank you! This pattern is exactly what I am looking for to put together an early fall (sunflower) wh for my front door.

I notice in the picture that you topstitched the insert but cannot tell if you also topstitched the blade. Should we
do both or just the insert. Again thank you so much for taking the time to do the tutorial it makes things so much clearer. |
I top stitched the inserts when I added the center. If I was using a full background square for the backing and center, I would top stitch the inserts and then use a machine buttonhole stitch to stitch the blades points to the background.
