I love yours as well. Thanks for posting pics. I love the way that you did your ribbon. I to have also thought of using less pins since they overlap. I wish that I could find christmas fabric like that in my fabric shop.

Wonderful, I was waiting to see if you get these. Have fun with these. Your first one may be frustrating but be patient it gets a lot easier with each one that you do. Please post pics once you have completed some of them.

Oh, I have to try this, thanks!

janmwalker 09-24-2010 02:58 AM

I have done mine the same way you mentioned without the marker. Before I started adding the fabric, I ran a piece of narrow ribbon thru the center with a metal crotchet hook and pulled it thru tying it with a knot leaving about two inches hanging on the bottom for looks. Also, I left at least that much of the folded ribbon on the top to hang onto the tree. I then added Christmas pics pieces around the top with glue. This turned out very nice.

I'm SO glad you posted this tutorial! I've been wanting to learn how to make them, and my LQS has a class on them...next weekend, when I will be three states away, having Christmas dinner with the inlaws. Now I know what I'll do in the car on the way there!

Murphy1 12-01-2012 07:33 AM

Thank you for sharing. I will make some for this holiday season. I have so many ideas swirling - i need to get started.

SMR 01-27-2013 05:06 PM

Many years ago did very similar ornament using ribbon instead of fabric square for a make-it-take-it class at the Piece Goods Shop in Oak Ridge Tenn. Ribbon worked better in class situation due to lack of time.

DeniseP 02-28-2013 05:55 AM

That looks like so much work! Very clear instructions, thanks!

calla 03-05-2013 07:58 AM

I would really like to make these, but I have 3 small children & am concerned about leaving the pins in!!

Any idea about that?

Langekat 09-17-2018 06:59 AM

Hi my name is Kathy and new to the site. But I love the quilted ornaments, and was wondering how much fabric to buy to make these. Not a sewer can do almost all crafts.
Please Help

nativetexan 09-17-2018 04:54 PM

here is one for folded hexagon flowers. not too hard and they can be many things.

Wonderful directions. I too work better with sight directions. At the moment I am using the old rubber band trick to line my Styrofoam balls but I would love to see this homemade alignment tool made from the lid of a butter tub. Can anyone send a picture and show how it works?

kathymarie 12-13-2018 04:26 AM

Thank you....this is the clearest tutorial I've seen on making these. I actually think I can make them now.

Check out the Ornament Girl.com websight for great free instructions, called basic star ornament. Type in the words, do not use anything highlighted.
