How about Pink Dogwood blossoms? Now that would be lovely! Have you seen that beautiful line of fabric put out by Moda, called Dogwood Trail?

Wow!! I love the idea of dogwoods. I do have some of that fabric and and applique pattern. I may just have to try that.

sewphie 09-12-2011 12:42 PM

I love your leaves, they are so great right now......may I "borrow" your wonderful idea?

sewphie 09-12-2011 12:48 PM

Oh my, just didn't go down far enough to see your tutorial...thank you so much for sharing....must try this tonight...what a beautiful gift to bring to my cousin when we go for dinner tomorrow!Do you think I can get a set done by then!

plmsmith 09-12-2011 12:53 PM

Very clever now what ever we see we can think "Um could this be a mug rug?"

RobertaMarie 09-12-2011 12:55 PM

This is so pretty, and I made a copy for my pattern page, plus I bookmarked the post. I do applique work and leaves are always nice to do. Ditto for quilting patterns. You are a sweetheart for giving us this nice work. :) Roberta

I found some fabrics that would hide stains and wash up well and then made up a few maple leaf mug rugs for our family room. My DH even said he loves them!

So I am now posting this for anyone else who would also like to make them. Seems like an Autumn-y thing to do. If any of you do make one, I would LOVE to see your pictures and see how they come out in different fabrics.

Please bear with me while I post the directions and pictures, as I’m going to post them one step at a time to keep them in the right order.

Wow! that was just too cool :-) Thanks a bunch for sharing. Sarah

Lara, This is beautiful. I saved a bunch of leaves for the purpose of doing something like this or for applique. I took too long and threw them out. But I love your mug rug! And I love your title of your picture "mug shot"!!

Hi Suzi! At the top of each topic section, over the word "author" on the left, there are tabs. The left most one says "bookmark" just click on that.

PS - I love your quote!

Thanks so much, Lara ................... :-P

You are a great instructor. I understood everything
I used to be from Maine and I love the maple leaf.
I always get homesick but now I can have my own leaves
and as many as I want to make. Thank you so much.

kriscraft99 09-12-2011 01:49 PM

oh my goodness!! these are absolutely stunning! great tutorial too! I'll be making some of these - I'm sooooooooooo ready for Fall.

I also love your signature line... "my husbands lets me buy all of the fabric I can hide".. that is Great:thumbup:

It never fails, my fabric that I purchase online seems to always come on Saturdays, when he is at home.

joogoo 09-12-2011 02:04 PM

Wow! Thanks for the idea and tut. Some of us can do most anything once someone comes up with the idea. The possibilities are endless. Christmas symbols, turkeys, hearts, flowers, birds -- you name it. Just think what you have started. Thanks again.

Laine 09-12-2011 04:17 PM

Here is mine...I cheated, I have a die that cuts the leaf out. I do like your better! I used Jeans and did not turn it inside out. I did try to turn one inside out and boy I messed up. I love how you did yours!!! I played with some fancy stitches on my machine and it was fun!
