Does anyone know how to delete the first correction I
put up there so no one gets confused between the two? Maybe a moderator could do it. Thanks, Marcia |

Thanks, Marcia You did Great putting the correction into the Word document, especially adding the option of using washable fabric glue to close and trim the V. Thanks a bunch! I was wondering the same thing as well: I'm thinking about contacting a moderator to ask if they could allow me to edit the original topic submission to include this new step. Does anyone know if that is possible? Once it gets past that 15 minutes or whatever it is for editing, are you stuck? |
Excellent instructions! Thank you!
|
This is a great tutorial and very cute and different.
Thanks for sharing with us. |
Thanks for sharing. Great tute. Love these mug rugs.
|
You are so welcome, Lara. I'm glad it was in the right
place this time. Now if the first one can just be deleted, I think we're good to go. Have a Blessed Day! |
Hi, just wanted you to know how I did the copy for the leaf. I placed a piece printer paper onto my pc. screen and traced over it with a pencil.
Worked great and that way didn't have to print out the whole tute. Got the real size on it too that way. Love your mug rug leaf. Jigs1354 I'm a little mug rug sitting all alone put your mug on me and give me a home. :)

1. Print out the Maple Leaf Pattern on regular printer paper. Size it to one page, with borders of 1.0 The Pattern should be about 6 inches. |
By Jigs that's a clever idea! :D The cost of pencil lead is a heck of a lot less than printer ink! We get so caught up in technology that we forget the simple solutions sometimes.
I'm a little puzzled about why the whole tutorial would have to be printed out though. For anyone who actually does want to print out the pattern anymore after reading Jigs' money saving solution, if you click the download button right under the leaf pattern, then you get just the pattern on one whole page. That is a really sweet Mug Rug Poem. ;) If you haven't already, you should add it to one of the two Mug Rug Poem /gift tag topic pages! http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-72577-1.htm http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-114384-1.htm I think it would be really neat to include the poems with mug rug gifts. And it's fun to make up your own too. |
Thank you for sharing. You just gave me an idea. Our son is getting married October 1 and we are giving the rehearsal dinner on September 30. I am thinking about making these for the attendees (21). I hope that I am not biting off more than I can chew (ha). I guess I wlll have to give up golf this week.

Hi, I copied from my pc screen because when I hit ("ctrl, then P") the whole tute came up on my screen. So that's when I drew it from the screen.
I wasn't trying to take anything from your information you gave, but found this worked for me so that's another way to copy a pattern as needed. By the way your tute is wonderful and very clear. Thanks :) jigs1354 |
going to make these
|
I just love these! They will soon be scattered on my diningroom table ready to use!
|
Those are adorable.
|
Wow, those are adorable. Thank you so much for taking the time to give the tute. This is my first post, hope it goes ok :)

So I told myself “Lara, Step Away From the Computer”, went for a walk outside in the sunshine, got a real maple leaf and made up my own pattern. I found some fabrics that would hide stains and wash up well and then made up a few maple leaf mug rugs for our family room. My DH even said he loves them!
So I am now posting this for anyone else who would also like to make them. Seems like an Autumn-y thing to do. If any of you do make one, I would LOVE to see your pictures and see how they come out in different fabrics. Please bear with me while I post the directions and pictures, as I’m going to post them one step at a time to keep them in the right order. |
Thanks so much for that. I will try it.
|
love your idea !
|
I enlarged mine and used the walking foot. I did it in a fall fabric. I thought about making 21 but changed my mind. They do take time which I don't have much now. Thank you for the tutorial.

Thank you for sharing!!! What a great idea! So many wonderful ideas and so little time!! Would make a great applique too!! How about 1930's leaf-themed feedsack prints???????????

I love this & what a great way to use some scrap fabric & batting. I think I'm going to make some just to lay around on my tables as autumn decoration. Thank you!
|
Thank you for sharing this with us. Very useful. Can't wait to try this one myself. Great gift idea.

Thank you so much Marcia and Kim for straightening out the Word and .PDF files for me to show the revision at step # 7! And big smiles from me to everyone for such enthusiastic and kind comments! I hope some of you do make them, because we would love to see pictures of them!!!
Yes, they would make great door prizes and gifts, etc.

I tried a couple using thick fleece for batting and that works quite well too. So if you have fleece in prints you can’t really use anywhere else… consider using it as batting, as long as your fabric isn’t so light it would show through. sunnymom: I feel special that your first post was on this topic! Thank you! :-D |
Golfer: Congratulations to you and your family and especially your son and his new bride to be. You must be very excited about their upcoming wedding, less than 2 weeks now! I'm glad you liked the leaves and thought they would be good rehearsal dinner gifts, but gosh! 21? I wouldn't have wanted to try to do that many either amongst all the other little uproars that go on before a wedding. ;-) I hope it all goes wonderfully!

Just leave the bottom open and turn under and put the four in it, what u think.......Just love your idea.....nice for gifts at work. I like to do the seasons with a surprise for all at work and this is perfect, thanks for sharing.
You really spoil your coworkers and I bet they look forward to whatever you come up with for each season. You all must be a very friendly group at work. That is quite a wonderful thing to have! Yes, I did see Patchgirl's topic about her Leaf Mug Rug with Stem. I was going to answer there when you asked her “Where can I get the pattern…?” but then I saw that you found this topic and therefore the pattern. I still hope she answers on her topic though. :? The addition of a stem is nice. I had experimented with that too. But I ended up choosing to post the stemless version, probably because I was working from a real maple leaf and didn't feel I could make the stem thin enough. But, stemless or stemmed, they both are neat. For anyone who would like to see how Patchgirl added a stem, check this topic: http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-153746-1.htm |
Lara, I rethought the idea of making 21 maple leaf mug rugs. They are beautiful but very time consuming. Thank you for the well wishes. Yes we are very excited.
|

Patrice J helped me a lot too in adding the one change back into the very beginning of the tutorial too, along with mention of where to find the downloads. You might say this is a community effort. Great people here on the QB! Thanks for all the positive words and appreciation everyone! |
Deborah, you should be able to download any word document, and save it as a pdf file. i have windows 7 and it has a program to change it over.
