I made it and it was awesome! thanks for this

I have gone to page 19 to print the pdf and word doc but can't find them? Also cannot find the Download word on the pattern of leaf page!
|
mmac1952, I never found it on pg 19 either, it's just not there.....I did find it on pg 20, 2nd post down by watterstide, post #192. I just made one for my SP for Oct.

Thank You so much I hope to get some made!! Another project!\

So sorry that the page references for the word and PDF patterns are in the wrong places now. When the QB switched to it's new form, it changed what pages posts were on. We kept making revisions and at first the word and PDF files were printing out wrong for people. (Pattern split over two pages, etc) So... The final versions are on page 28, but I have now learned it is safer to refer to the post #, in case the QB page layouts change again.
Marcia's word version is in post #272 Kim's PDF file is in post #274 |
thank you for the tute and the pattern. will be making a few of these. thank you for sharing...

So cool, will make great gifts. Don't know how I missed this one two plus years ago!

This is wonderful. I needed some quick birthday gifts so I'm going to make each of them a set of four and wrap them up!

Thanks everyone!
Caroline, that sounds like the ultimate compliment! :) I tried to capture the steam rising out of the mug of coffee in the photo. |
When I saw the original date of this post I was surprised and glad it popped to Pg 1. I will be trying my hand at them this weekend. What a great idea. Thanks! I'm gonna put them in one of those little boxes everybody is making!:D

So where do I go to get the pattern

Wouldn’t it look pretty if a mug rug coaster was shaped like a maple leaf? When that idea popped into my head, I searched the internet for a pattern and could not find one. So I told myself “Lara, Step Away From the Computer”, went for a walk outside in the sunshine, got a real maple leaf and made up my own pattern. I found some fabrics that would hide stains and wash up well and then made up a few maple leaf mug rugs for our family room. My DH even said he loves them!
So I am now posting this for anyone else who would also like to make them. Seems like an Autumn-y thing to do. If any of you do make one, I would LOVE to see your pictures and see how they come out in different fabrics. Please bear with me while I post the directions and pictures, as I’m going to post them one step at a time to keep them in the right order. A Mug Shot |

Recurver your leaves turned out so beautiful! I love how you have them displayed. Thank you for sharing the picture - It made my day :)
Ronda, I love your little owl quilt too! He is very winsome. Hard to believe it is only about a month before we get out our Christmas decorations. Shirsh - it used to be you could get the pattern by simply clicking on the picture of the pattern. That does not seem to be working anymore either. You can get the pattern now by downloading either the MS Word or the pdf files. Sorry that the page references for the word and PDF patterns are in the wrong places now. PS Your fabrics are just lovely! Especially loved the paisley.

Gorgeous!! Love the genius thinking - just go outside and pick up a leaf! :) Thank you for providing the tutorial. I can't wait to make some mug rugs of my own.
|
I have this picture from early on,as my winter desktop picture. I love them and it makes a pretty desktop!
|
I would like to use this maple leaf pattern/tutorial to make favors for my quilt guild. Is that ok?
|
Hi Mama Kool,
Yes it is perfectly fine to use the pattern/tutorial. It is out there for everyone to use. It is nice of you to ask. I hope you and your guild have fun with it! |
Loved your idea and made myself some. Thanks for tute!
|
I love those. Thanks for sharing!
|
our quilt guild is giving these away at our next quilt show... the members are making 300 of them!!!
|
Hi Nancy... 300 Maple Leaf Mug Rugs, that is amazing! You sure made my day!
I want to thank you again for helping to get this tutorial straightened out after the QB changed formats. Also - it is wonderful how quickly you have been settling into your new home! |
thank you for sharing that it looks great
|
I make mug rugs using burlap scraps. I machine embroidery on them and while the fabric is still in the hoop, I place another layer of burlap on the back , put the design back on the machine and then put a decorative stitch (usually a satin stitch) around the design to sandwich the two layers together and to also hide the back. Hope this makes since.
|
Great tutorial!! Thanks for sharing. Can't wait to try these.
|
Thanks for the tute!! These are so pretty!
|
Nice tutorial

Many thanks for a great tutorial and opening a whole new world of mug rugs. So far I've been making the conventional rectangle and this is going to be fun for me and the recipient.
|
I know I'm a little late to the party, but I wanted to say thank you so much to BuzzinBumble for this tutorial, and thank you also to those responsible for the Word and PDF documents. I'm going to try this tonight - pics to follow! Unless, of course, I make a complete mess of it, in which case I shall try again later, and post pics when I have produced something presentable :)
|
Love this leaf pattern but I cheat.! ! ! I make them outside out and just trim with my pinking shears. Everyone I've make them for enjoy using them.
|
Wow, that is cool Joanie! You should do grape leaves - they have a natural sawtooth edge.
