Do you cut 1 1/4" measuring from the from the center? Or measuring from the edge? Looks like the center from the pics.

How did you get your points in the center to match up perfectly and lay so flat??!! Mine are horrible. I sewed from the outer edge to the center when sewing the triangles together and I wasn't sure whether to press the seam open or to one side? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!! I tried to upload a picture of my block but it wouldn't.
