I have had a sweat shirt waiting for this type of project, but was afraid to start. Now thanks to you I can get it done before it gets cold down here. Again thank you for your efforts.

Lovely, lovely, lovely! I can't wait to try it! I have the sweatshirt and some awesome fat quarters, I am going to try and get it done this week! Will post a pic when I do! Thanks for the simple instructions and sharing the technique! I think I am going to try ruffled cuffs, what do you all think?

quilting librarian 08-08-2010 01:37 PM

Too cool! I bought a sweatshirt for this after you put up the tutorial. :-D :D This makes it so easy to follow - you did a great job! Thank you!

These are absolutely stunning and I can't wait to try one of these. I do have 2 sweatshirts on hand to make me 2 more. Wonder if I can squeeze in time to make one to have to wear for the holidays - that's my goal but don't know how my time is going to go. The itch is here though. Thank you.

What am I doing wrong? Everyone is thanking you for the instructions but I get nothing but a blank page or another of the same page. I have the most recent Adobe Reader.

I just wasn't patient enough. Tried again, waited and it appeared. Thanks.

zz-pd 08-08-2010 11:15 PM

Thank you for doing that. God bless.

grammypatty7 08-09-2010 06:26 AM

I've learned that you have to be patient for PDF files to load up but once they do, they sure are worth it. Without PDF, the files such as this tutorial would be impossible for us to down load as most of our email providers wouldn't allow the files size. Glad you finally got it.

That would be pretty. How do you make ruffled cuffs?

LOVE IT! Hmmmm, ruffled cuffs?? My guess is cut bias strip 2X width and 1 1/2 length you want. Fold in half, gather baste on and then add facing piece??

quilter711 08-14-2010 04:37 PM

The instructions and pictures are great. I love the blue jacket! Can't wait to pick out the fabrics. You even made that easy!

Thanks a million,

Thanks so much for coming up with a great tutorial. I have two questions, I read where you mentioned being careful not to stretch the sweatshirt when sewing the pieces down. Would using a fusible interfacing help to keep the sweatshirt from stretching? Second, have you used any other fabrics than cotton? I got lucky enough to get swatches of silk from a drapery and upholstery store that was closing. I'd like to make a crazy patch jacket. Do you think the sweatshirt base idea would work?
Sorry that was three questions! Chris

If you are just careful, you shouldn't need any interfacing. I think that using mixed fabrics would make an awesome jacket! Just be careful about how you wash it.

Can't wait to see yours!
