Great idea!

megs0863 11-23-2010 12:13 PM

Too cool!! Adds a really nice touch to plain old binding. I think it will bridge the quilt colors with the binding color/s. THANK YOU.

blackbearbetty 11-23-2010 02:30 PM

I'll have to try that I hate hand sewing.

Olivia's Grammy 11-23-2010 02:51 PM

Thanks, love this idea.

jeanneb52 11-23-2010 03:10 PM

WOW How cool is that?!

Cher 11-23-2010 04:23 PM

What a great way to do thedreaded binding, I never seem to get it right. This looks like a lot of work made easy. Thanks for sharing.

dsews2 11-23-2010 04:51 PM

I love the way you did that binding. I have a baby quilt to make and will try that method. Does look real easy.
Thanks.

ktmo815 11-23-2010 05:55 PM

thank you for sharing this

crankygran 11-23-2010 06:29 PM

Loverly! I have seen two color binding but not done this way so still had the hand sewing to do. Thanks a ton.

katrbee 11-23-2010 07:07 PM

Wow, what a great accent to do it with two colors. I have always put binding on back and folded to the front and finished off by machine with a squiggle stitch in thread to match the binding, then it just blends right in. Of course the quilt police always tell me that is not a "legal" binding, and I don't pay attention as I give away another quilt that is finished. So I love the flange idea!! Thanks again.

annette1952 11-23-2010 07:09 PM

Wow that looks great! Thank you!

KathyKat 11-23-2010 07:49 PM

That is such a good idea! I hand sew my binding to the front also and once tried machine stitching but didn't like it at all. This looks much nicer so i will try it. thanks for the tute!!

Woodster 11-23-2010 07:53 PM

I'll be trying this one. Thanks a bunch!

jitkaau 11-23-2010 08:49 PM

I will be looking for ways to put cord into that peeper in order to give it more definition as well. Many thanks.

sawsan 11-23-2010 09:26 PM

Thank y 4 sharing this new looking binding. Good idea

quilterjeri 11-23-2010 09:38 PM

Wonderful idea - can't wait to try it. Will have to get busy, as I don't have anything anywhere near ready for quilting or binding!

craftyone27 11-23-2010 11:22 PM

Thanks soo much for posting this tut!! I had never seen a binding done this way before. I was just finishing a tablerunner and couldn't decide on the binding color so I used this method. I love the effect!! I have to admit my miters didn't come out as neatly as yours or as neatly as mine usually do when I sew a binding to the front first and fold to the back. But I will definitely use this method again and hopefully improve on my corners! Thanks again!!

juneayerza 11-23-2010 11:30 PM

Like others have expressed, I love this board because people are so willing to share ideas and to help others. Thanks for this tut.

AnneT 11-23-2010 11:31 PM

This sounds like a great time saver and I love the accent flange! Wonderful idea and I'll definitely use it on my next project. Thank you so much for sharing this idea and taking your time to make a tut for us! Highly appreciated!!

brendadawg 11-24-2010 01:47 AM

Awesome. This is going to be sooooo useful for all these last minute Christmas things I'm trying to finish. Thanks for sharing.

Somerset Val 11-24-2010 02:41 AM

This method is a little like one used by Ricky Tims in his videio 'Grand Finale' - it's a video well-worth buying! He uses a slightly finer fabric for the insert, placing a length of embroidery thread in the middle of it to make a very fine piped edge. It is then turned to the right side and stitched in-the -ditch so that no stitching shows. I've tried it and the result is exceptionally good - looks very professional!

dewie45 11-24-2010 02:52 AM

Wow, this is a great effect! I know I will trying this binding more for the look than the speed.

MISHNJIM 11-24-2010 02:54 AM

MAN...I wish I saw this earlier this week. I have 2 quilts I needed done in a hurry and have only finished one. I have my binding already sewn on the other but that one is gonna have to wait for the hand sewing.

Thank you so much for this Tute   I will try it soon.

Cuddly Quilter 11-24-2010 04:30 AM

Thank you, that is very neat! You also now have a fansy border as well. I like this very much.

Deb53 11-24-2010 05:41 AM

Thanks for sharing! What a fabulous idea.
I love it when it seems like magic - and it's super easy and quick.
I will remember this trick and pass it on to my quiting buddies too.

KR 11-24-2010 05:44 AM

What a cool idea....thanks!

KarenS 11-24-2010 12:05 PM

Love this idea! I will try it with my next quilt!

MarilynLouise 11-24-2010 06:44 PM

I did this on a tablerunner and plan do it again on other quilts. Nice tutorial.

darlin121 11-24-2010 10:25 PM

I'm going to do this on the very next quilt I bind!

connie_1936 11-24-2010 10:48 PM

Baren*eh*ked_canadian 11-25-2010 08:52 AM

Thank you, that is awesome!

Sweeterthanwine 11-25-2010 09:18 AM

Thank you so much. I think I can follow this tute very well. You did a good job and it looks easy to.

grma33 11-27-2010 04:28 AM

?
When you do the corners is it the same way a normal as stopping a 1/4 inch and take out of machine then make your miter and stitch
Love this
Thanks Gale

judy363905 11-27-2010 11:25 AM

Thank you for sharing -- what a fun binding to do

ann clare 11-27-2010 12:23 PM

Great tute. Will give it a try.

Central Ohio Quilter 12-01-2010 12:26 PM

I am looking forward to trying this method on my two quilts that I have in process! Thanks!

yolanda 12-01-2010 03:05 PM

Would this work if I used a 1" for the flange or fake piping and 2" for the other binding strip? The end result is still 2.5 inch??

Hammockhanger 12-05-2010 11:37 AM

I tried this today, so simple. I will probably never hand sew binding again.

yolanda 12-05-2010 01:58 PM

Ditto!
