...very nice....sure beats cutting templates....

klarina 04-03-2011 12:30 PM

Love it!
Thanks. This looks much less complicated that the ones I have seen so far.
thanks

klgreene 04-03-2011 12:47 PM

I've done this block on a larger scale, from a book, but this looks so much easier, and I can make it a mini without having to try and figure it out from my pattern. I just have to get back to my sewing room......SOOOOOOOON! You know I love your cut down method....so here we go again, adding to my list of "TO DO's"

CarrieAnne 04-03-2011 06:26 PM

Thanks, you made it look so easy!

joy 04-03-2011 07:10 PM

Made those blocks several years ago, probably made them the hard way....

sewnserge 04-03-2011 07:14 PM

Rhonda -- great tute! I can hardly wait to try it!! Thanks a million!

Rhonda 04-03-2011 07:40 PM

You're welcome everyone! Enjoy the process!

OHSue 04-05-2011 03:21 AM

Rhonda, you are a genius! This has always been one of my favorite blocks, but after making one I thought I would never make it again. Now I can hardly wait to try one again.
Your brain must be realllly big to think of this!

Thanks Sue. It is just an extension of what I wrote in my Ebook. This is one of the traditional quilt blocks I showed that can be done with my methods.

fidgety 04-05-2011 03:20 PM

Thank you Rhonda! I have been wanting to make this but for some reason the other method just seemed to comfuse me. lol. THANK YOU!

Rhonda 04-05-2011 03:37 PM

I'm glad you think so. You'll have to show us a pic when you get one done!

Alondra 04-30-2011 07:13 PM

Love this! Have always wanted to make a Card Trick quilt, but it seemed so difficult. Now I can do it, thanks to you!

Gotta get a camera, first. <G> I still live in the Stone Age.

Rhonda 04-30-2011 08:29 PM

I dropped mine! Pushed in the lens on one side and now it won't work. I can't be without a canera or I can't do any tutorials! I also have a 4 mos old DGS ands it about killed me not to have a camera when he was here last weekend!!! LOL I borrowed one from my DD til I get another one. I looked online but hate to buy something I can't handle and hold and tryout for myself.

I don't blame you. What a shame to miss those photo ops of your DGS. I'm going to try to get one later this year. But I want to be able to have someone teach me how to use it.

I'm kind of an amateur photo bug. I love to take photos. My kids get aggravated with me at least my sons do. They tolerate it but my one son -middle child- I always have his wife twist his arm to let me take pictures! LOL Last time I just said tough! I am taking your pics! He has a tendency to throw his arm up at just the opportune time to block his face. I think it is a game with him! LOL He is like my one uncle. He just hates to have his picture taken. Or he holds a kid in front of his face.
those grands grow up far too fast not to have a camera around!

Amen... so MiddleSon is just going to have to humor Mom for the duration! His kids will be your justification... they will someday be asking him why he always had something in front of his face, so they can't see what he looked like. :) He'd best be thinking of a good answer to that one. It's called "divine justice". (Someone once said that grandparents and grandchildren had a natural affinity... they share a common enemy.) <G>

Hi Rhonda,
Here is my attempt at the card trick. I know these fabric's don't match but I was trying it out. I still have to finish sewing it together but I wanted to show it to you. The sewing will have to wait til later.

Rhonda 06-12-2011 01:53 PM

Looks good to me CJ I like your colors. The only thing I would do differant which is only a personal preferance is I would put the pink and peach ones across from each other rather than beside each other. I just like the contrast better that way. It makes each one stand out from the others if two that are similar are not against each other.

But I tend to do things differant than most people so it is definately a personal preferance where you place the colors.

cjomomma 06-12-2011 02:18 PM

Thank you! You are right about the color layout. This one was just an experiment, you know the one that I learn from. :-). Next time I will use different colors the coordinate better.

I have seen it done the way you did this one. So it is all in the eye of the beholder! LOL

LOL!! The beholder of these eyes isn't totally happy with the color choices. :-)
Someday I will make a quilt out of all my experiment blocks. :-) It will be one odd looking quilt!!!
I really want to make a card trick quilt out of black, red and white. I have a really good variety of prints in those colors to make many quilts.

Thank you Rhonda you are the greatest!

I love black and white with red so that would be a really gorgeous quilt! I always used to pick black and white for everything. clothes room decor etc my mom used to say it was because then I didn't have to choose a color! My other color I added was yellow. black and yellow or black and red are just gorgeous color combos in my opinion.

Rhonda 06-13-2011 05:59 AM

Thanks Nellie and Snicker dee
