My mother tought me this kind of quilting years ago (even before I learn what is patchwork and quilting )
First I draw the flowers on a white muslin or other lightweight fabric Fix it by basting on the wrong side of your object Small running stitches by hand (back stitches) all over every part you want it to pop up (you can use your machine straight or zig zag Behind every bocket formed by the stitching outline, cut a small long slit ( 1/4 _ 1/2 inche )in the backing fabric (becareful not to cut the top fabric) Fill it with small amount of fibers tp pad each stuitched pocket, don't over- stuff I Tryed many things to go inside for pushing but this little driver was my (partner) Close the slits with small oversewing stitches.( I am not sure if I have a shot of closing ones ) here is how to work and the final. basting the lightweight fabric with the drawing all over it slits in the backing fabric ONLY Fill and stuff and close the slits My jacket My helper I promis it to show to my friends |
