I am waiting on some Lemon background fabric from them. I also have some lovely batiks so may use them still dithering my do an all different blues on the lemon that could work too.
I tried to get the gold cording for the embroidery area but they were sold out. Its very fine and I will couch it when I get my hands on it.

Its so great to see more people planning to work along with us and Lesley...yes...doing some samples closer to the time is a great idea! I know I would love to do needle turn, but mine just never seems to work quite right. I've been more successful using either freezer paper or even the back basting that I learned with the Jane.
BarbaraJane, I'm so happy that you like my Chocolate Jane! Thanks! I'm quilting it now so it is in the final stages and I have to say I love it...even if I do say so myself! :D: We'd love to know that you were following along on this thread and could pop in from time to time with some good tips/pointers.

I will order my book and try a block to kinow for sure. My motto in the past (as early as yesterday) has been "I don't do needle turn applique". But, Leslie, your idea of enlarging the block sounds like it might be doable for me. Leslie, are you saying that you are doing hand embroidery? I love to do hand embroidery but also sort of a novice at that also.
Will you all really hold my hand through all of this to the very end if I take the plunge?

Leaving our comfort zones is the way we learn new & exciting things. Way back in the begining (before dirt was named), everything I did was by hand because that was what we did. Gradually, I started using my machine more & more. Now, I love my machine & try to find ways to make her sing new songs. You don't need to jump completely out of your comfort zone, but maybe stick a toe out first, then another toe. Pretty soon the whole foot is out there & you're dancing a new dance!
With the help of all these ladies, you can do it - I know you can!!!

I guess wanting to do this project makes me realize how many things I have only begun to do and haven't really mastered anyone part yet. I have an embroidery machine but still in novice stage. However, that is an improvement as I used to be stuck in scared stiff stage. So, Kathy, will that count as one toe in??? Who knows maybe we will all come out expert... ahhh, well maybe... experienced.
There is such an international flavor on this thread. How cool that is!! :-D

This is a cool group, for sure - I'm actually freezing right now - it's a whopping 5° right now with a windchill of -6°. We are down in the SE corner of New Mexico & it just doesn't get this cold - usually. Really into breaking records today & tomorrow.
Seriously, these ladies are the greatest for a support network. I know you're in good hands with All-Sta--, uh, ahem - all these gals!

Yep I second that the support is absoultely great, I for one would never have got so far along with my Dear Jane project as I have (now quilting row 11 - 7 done).
Anyway what I wanted to show you all is my new delivery of my block fabric. Different colourway so something for you all to think about. I don´t like sewing on black fabric I find it difficult so here is my choice. This lovely lemon fabric I got from Equilter. Its Kona cotton at 4.95$ a yard and they are super to deal with.
the batiks I am now planning to use I got as a lovely squishy from a dear friend on the board and they are just gorgeous.
I think the colours pop on this lemon fabric to. Whatcha think?
