Affairs of the Heart Cyber-Sew 2011

I've been looking for fabrics to do the small borders and the sashing for my blue mirage quilt and so far haven't found anything spectacular. But I did run across something I think might possibly work for someone using a black background. It's actually a holiday fabric, but some of the scrolly sections could be used for a border if they're wide enough: http://www.favoritefabric.com/cgi/co...=HF-H8817-213G

Judy, thats pretty! I'm not using black though, so wouldn't work for me on this one.
As far as the pieces moving when you applique...believe me...I had that problem!! I've used a basting stick to actually glue them down before, but now I think I've worked out a method that works for me. I draw the outline on the background fabric and then I draw the outline on each piece too. I stick a pin through a sharp point on the applique piece, then match the piece to the background marking and poke the pin STRAIGHT down. I do this in several places on the applique piece to insure that it is exactly in the right spot. Then and only then do I pin the piece to the background. After it is securely pinned down, pull the staight up and down pins out. I'm still not perfect, but I'm getting better with each block.

I finished this late last night and didnīt have enough energy to post it here. This is what I plan to use as I am putting my blocks on point. these are the half square triangle pieces. I have 14 to make so 1 down and 13 to go. Have to add they are not easy but I did JTG. I will be using any pink batik I have to make these, they wonīt all be the same. I canīt remember if I posted my layout but here is the idea and the plan for the 1/2 triangles
I had to reduce the size of the pattern for this

Thank you, I still have two to embroider and I was going to take them on holiday to do, but it now looks like I will be doing the half square triangles on holiday.
Will do an update with the triangles I have finished shortly.
