There are two stack and whack books that I have; the first book we have used a number of times with 60 degree cuts and the design repeats every 15 to 18 inches...and a ribbon border.this one was pink flamingos. It went to Corpus Christi, Tx., teacher Karen Hall who taught with DH.

Are the stack-n-whack patterns mostly 60 degree triangles? I have seen the book, but not *really* looked at it. I would say start with a 4 patch one and go from there. Quilt Moments has patterns with directions using this method...she has lots of patterns all on one page, so it is a lot of scrolling down but worth it to see some pretty quilts. http://quiltmoments.com/

CarrieM: the green is all 60 degree triangles...the flamingos are the repeating pattern cut into lengths of the repeating, the 14-18 inches, carefully stacked on top of one another in line with the design 8 times, then cut into 6 inch strips, I think, and cut at 45 degree angle up to middle of the fabric or where the fold is....usually about 22 inches in each section of the 'stacked' pieces...making the full cut for eight 'petals' that completes each circle....and the 60 degree triangle fits around them...like the green background in the photo above.

Carriem I love what you did with that fabric, is it Shimmer by Timeless Treasure, I bought some from Hancocks but not sure what to make with it. I bought a few pieces of the co-ordinating fabrics and also the border print. Your blocks look beautiful..
I love Stack n Whack quilts, I use a Micro Stitch basting tool to pin all my layers together. I made my DH a lap quilt using motorbike fabric and he has loved it to death, the wadding is showing through, the black has shredded but he won't let it go to quilt heaven.
Here is a photo of my LeMoyne Star using this method
