The FWS Quilt-Along Week 28 Blocks 55 & 56 Rotary Cutting Instructions

Block # 55 Linoleum
Please read the instructions as there is more than one way to do it.
1. Light T # 1 Cut a 2-1/2" square.
2. Light T # 13 Cut a strip 1-7/8" x 8" then cut every 1-7/8" to get four 1-7/8"
squares then cut in half diagonally (corner to corner).
3. Med T # 25 Cut a strip 1-1/2" x 10-1/2" then cut every 2-1/2" to get 4 pieces that measure 1-1/2" x 2-1/2".
4 Light T # 25 Repeat step 3.
5. Dark T # 65 Cut a strip 2-1/2" x 10-1/2" then cut every 2-1/2" to get four 2-1/2" squares.
Use the template to cut correct angles.
OR
You can follow the two steps here in place of steps 2 & 5 from above.
2. Light T # 13 Cut two strips 1-9/16" x 6-1/2" then cut every 1-9/16" (9/16" is several threads past 1/2")
to get EIGHT 1-9/16" squares. Mark a line diagonally (corner to corner).
5.Dark T # 65 Cut a strip 2-1/2" x 10-1/2" then cut every 2-1/2 to get four 2-1/2" squares.
6.Place a 1-9/16" square on a corner of a 2-1/2" square from step 5 right sides facing. Sew on the marked line.
Flip the triangle to the outside corner and press. Do not stretch. Trim the underneath layers away leaving a 1/4" seam
being careful not to cut the top triangle off. repeat this process for the opposite side of the square.
Refer to book for block assembly.

Block # 56 Maple Leaf
1. Dark T # 3 Cut two 2-7/8" squares.
2. Light T # 3 Repeat step 1 and then mark a line diagonally (corner to corner).
Place the squares from steps 1 & 2 together right sides facing then sew a scant 1/4" seam on
both sides of the marked line. than cut on the marked line. Press flip then press again try
not to stretch the seams.
3.Light T # 7 Cut a 2-3/8" square then cut in half diagonally.
4.Light T # 1 Cut one 2-1/2" square.
5. Dark T # 1. Cut a strip 2-1/2" x 8" then every 2-1/2" to get Three 2-1/2" squares.
6. Dark T # 52Cut one 2-1/2" square then place template on the square to cut the correct angles.
