Really want to say thank you to everyone, we have a great group and I love dropping in and checking out the blocks everyone is making. As we progress it's definitely giving me more confidence in possibly running another Quilt Along when we are done here with perhaps a more structured balance for the quilt while giving all of us a way to turn scraps into a usable product.
I also want to say if anyone has a pattern that they would like to see in the QA feel free to send me a Pm to the link. The only thing requirements are the following: the pattern needs to be available for everyone to access, the finished block size needs to be 12inches, everything else is fair game. As we go along and get further into this the easy blocks will become more challenging, don't give up when this happens, ask questions if your stumped on something. When we are completely done with the QA I will create a post that has every block we made for anyone who may have started late or couldn't join us this go round. Or perhaps you just made the easy blocks this time and now that you're more confidant you want to go back and make a sampler with the challenge blocks.
Whatever the reason is you're here for....whether it be to use stash, scraps, challenge yourself, get out of a rut, make new friends, or all of the above, I truly hope you are enjoying yourself. As I get more adept at running something like this i will get more organized. This QA came as a sudden idea while sitting in chat one night and wondering if more people would come in to chat if we all had a common reason for being there. I must say, we DEFINITELY had more people in the chatroom tonight for a good period of time discussing what we made and checking out possible future blocks.
Again, I want to say thanks to everyone who is doing this and not running from my fumbles as I run something like this for the first time coupled with no real serious plan prior other than a goal to be reached.
Enjoy Ladies.

The chat did seem lively. I am so sorry you broke your hand wyldw I felt horrible for you when you said you had sausage fingers.. oh darn that is one sore puppy. I say skateboarding is overwith for you from now on. Especially when you go out wine tasting.
I finished the ax and churn block. I think the hard part was all those tiny little pieces. I will now go do the easy block because well its EASY and I am sure I like that one a whole bunch! post pics in a bit here. thanks for allowing me to play along.

I finished last week's challenge block (above) and this week's easy block today. I wish I had more of the above fabrics! They are so punchy. The blues and greens are scraps from a charity quilt I did. I'm planning to tackle the challenge block tomorrow.. hats off to whoever picked that one, because my husband loves it, and has already asked for a full sized quilt using that block.
The easy block this week was fun, although I'm not very happy with the colors I chose.
Thanks to all who have been PMing me tips.. hopefully you can tell I have been taking them seriously, and I think it is paying off.

Afternoon ladies, hope you are all enjoying your quilting time. I will be attempting my blocks for this week during the week. Right now I am enjoying some down time with hubby curled up in bed, I was bit productive earlier though, I went to the LQS about 10 minutes from my house and picked up the 2 fabrics that I want to attempt to turn into a Storm at Sea quilt variation, the variation I am using is going to be Snails Trails. Here are the fabrics I chose...tell me what you think:

Have one more block to go in the morning and I will be caught up!! The Quilting Guild I belong to is having their retreat the first of April. There is a challenge to do a quilt, completed, made with three colors. Two of the colors are black and white. The third color was determined by the color of the crayola that you draw from a bag. Mine is a lime green so that is the color I am using in these blocks. I am so glade that these are big blocks and it will not take to many to make a throw. Thank you for setting this up. Up until I found this site I did not know what I was going to do.

Axe and Churn was hard! I I think I ripped out every sem at least once! I just realized there is a mistake in the Arkansas crossroads.... maybe I should have just stuck to the easy squares! I'm done ripping, pushing forward! I think that's a new acronym - IDRPF! LOL

They look great so far. Here are the fat quarters I picked up today so that I can maintain my color coordination for each quilt. These are for the challenge blocks, I still need to find some more for the easy blocks.
