Tne FWS Quiltalong Week 41 Block 41 Peony & Block 42 Pharlemia
Well Ladies, Who is the bravest to attempt this week's blocks? Ahem, 61 pieces and yes I did print the pping pattern & cut them out.. I will color them later. This one is a real challenge..

You aren't kidding! The first one, Peony, is asymetrical. So of course mine ended up backwards. It wasn't that bad to paper piece, but putting those pieces together was a real puzzle, even with instructions. It's a very pretty block tho, and I'm glad I have it.
Pharlemia was a Y-seam test! Also pretty, but not easy.

Nice work SBG! I did Peony but I don't like the color combination I picked and I need to put this on the re-do list because of the way the middle piece turned out but I don't know if I want to do this one again. I probably will though at some point just to learn how to do it better. I have Pharlemia cut out and ready.

No, not in the final product, but it does make it much harder to put the sections together, having to look at the pictures and think everything in reverse. I finally just made do on my own.
I like your block PamP. I sure wouldn't want to do it again.
I would think there are many quilters who could not make these harder blocks. We must be "above average", LOL!

It didn't matter to me that it was in reverse. There are so many pieces I don't even think I realized that. I had problems with the middle because I didn't understand the instructions about starting a partial seam on the left side. I did what I thought was right and it seemed to work until I got to the last side and I couldn't get it right at the end. BUT it wasn't left open anywhere so that is why I think if I attempt it again (some far day in the future) i might be able to figure that part out. I sure have learned a lot from this QAL and I appreciate all the help and fun along the way : )

Here are mine. My y-seams in Pharlemia just weren't working out this time, so I needle-turn appliqued the center part. It's still a little off, but much better than the y-seams were looking. I'm almost afraid to look at the next two!
