You took apart your clothes dryer?!
my husband does ours twice a year (when we change the batteries in the smoke alarms..fall back, spring back time)
you will be freaked out when you see all the lint inside and outside the drum and in the hose..
when the kids were teenagers, he posted a sign on the door to remind them to change the lint catcher after every load.
it also stated that "8 out of 20 house fires are caused by lint build up"

not really..the top just pops off/up on mine..it has clips. and on the bottom of mine is what looks like a drawer.(it isn't) .and it pops off/down too. that was the worst part..we got those special brushes, long and wirey..to pull out all the built up lint..

This is an excellent suggestion!!! I cleaned out DD's and it was a fire waiting to happen!!!
Even cleaning out your traps after every load, doesn't catch it all. You will also probably find that your loads will dry faster too
Also, once a month scrub the lint catcher with dish soap and water until the water runs through the screen freely, this will also help your loads dry faster :D:D:D
