anyone ever have an MRA (like an MRI) in shoulder?

I've learned that it is better to insist on 1 Valium to take before medical procedures than for me to be all anxious, nervous and stressed. I have grown to hate the phrase "we can take care of this here in our office". Red flag - time for a Valium. You do have to have someone drive you to & from your appointment. You should not drive.

Yes, I have had several MRIs and although you may get anxious, all you feel is a little warmth as the dye is injected. The tech usually goes very slow and monitors you every minute. Just think about having one done on your head...yes, they did determine that I had a brain! LOL
If you feel really really anxious, maybe they can give you a Xanax or a little bit of Valium before they start the test. There is also another sedative that is like "twilight sleep" that I wish I could keep an IV full of at home...I get more "rest" during that time than at any other!!
Good luck with your test!

You have the "power" to stop the MRI at any time  and they will tell you that too...
When I have had mine done, they gave me a choice of music to listen too, a wash cloth over mye eyes, a fan to keep me cool, and lots of pillows to make me comfy LOL

I had one a couple of years ago. I, too, was a little apprehensive about the injection. They gave me a Xanax beforehand and I couldn't have cared less what they were doing to me. No pain....nothing.....it was over before I knew it. Good Luck!

are you sure that they are giving you the dye in your shoulder???I had an MRI on my neck, than they injected the dye in my arm ,and then went back in the tube for another 20 min.
They wanted to make sure that they knew exactly where the damage was before surgery.
wasn't too bad,and my head was restrained in a cage.:)
