Christmas Cards
#1
I got this from my sister yesterday:
In God We Trust!
When doing your Christmas cards this year, take one card and send it to this address. If we pass this on and everyone sends one card, think of how many cards these wonderful special people who have sacrificed so much would get. A Great Idea!!!
When you are making out your Christmas card list this year, please include one to the following:
A Recovering American Soldier
c/o Walter Reed Army Medical Center
6900 Georgia Avenue NW
Washington, DC 20307-5001
I send an annual Christmas letter with our card and I thought this might be a good idea also, to sort of let them know what is going on somewhere else and they could be part of our family.
How about it, Quilters? What say we inundate Walter Reed Army Medical Center with Christmas cards and love and thanks to our soldiers. Merry Christmas to all of you!!!!!! Edie

so i say, yes, it is a great thing to do, especially for kids or a group of kids like classrooms, or scouts. just make sure you abide by the rules.send it to the right address,no glitter, and other specific rules, listed at the link above,
done through the red cross..

Thank you so much. I just checked Snopes for something else - never dreamed it would hit servicemen at Walter Reed.
But I am forwarding this to my sister and she can do her thing with who she sent it out to. Thanks again. Will follow their directions. Edie

no, they will not let you send cards to "any soldier" already deployed.
unles it has changed, it was considered unsafe for them.
BUT, if you know someone who is there, and you have thier address, you put them in a box, and that person can hand them out to his flight or troop..
we did this with my son when he was over there, both times. i went to a school and asked if the 3rd grade teacher could do it as a writing exercise. it was sooo funny! the things they wrote.
My Daughter did it with her class of 3rd graders once also.
you can also adopt a soldier. there are long lists of soldiers who want to be adopted.

Just an fyi if they do not have a name on the card to a specific soldier they will not deliver the card. We help a non profit called Operation Support our Troops and heard stories of thousand of cards not delivered because of the rules of no name no deliver. Just check it out to make sure but from last years to this year things have changed.
