Did You Know - Part 2
Lawrence Welk's thick accent did not come from another country. He was born in North Dakota.
There was an episode of MASH that featured Harry Morgan and McLean Stevenson together. At the time Harry was not playing the part of Col. Potter.
The ridges of a whale's tail are as unique as a person's fingerprints.
The Woolly Bear Caterpillar shows more brown when there is going to be a mild winter.
The city of Denver, CO was named after Gilligan's (Bob Denver) Great-grandfather.
Canada geese male and female have nearly identical markings. The way to tell who's who is that the males are about 10 percent larger.
John Adams and Thomas Jefferson died the same day – July 4, 1826
In the movie “Close Encounters” the longitude and latitude numbers given for the Devil's Tower are off by more than 270 miles.
The English word gift, when translated into German means poison.

Sorry, Teen. While Bob did have a James (great-grandfather) and a William (grandfather) in his genealogy ( https://www.wikitree.com/genealogy/D...Family-Tree-20 ) neither was the person Denver CO was named after. The places and dates do not match with https://www.kshs.org/kansapedia/james-w-denver/15510 James William Denver who was born 1917 and was the Kansas governor whom General Larimer was trying to gain political favor with per https://www.denver.org/about-denver/...enver-history/
SusieQOH evidently lots thought Welk was Polish. While he was born in North Dakota it was a settlement founded by a lots of immigrants from Russia, but originally were Germans in France. From some of the sources I read, such as http://www.encyclopedia.com/people/l.../lawrence-welk Welk did not speak English until he was 21.
Its interesting so many of the founding fathers died on July 4th.
Janey - Neat people never make the exciting discoveries I do.

I found this about Lawrence Welk's accent (my mom was a big fan of his):
Welk’s parents were immigrants from Alsace-Lorraine who spoke only German to the nine children they raised on their farm outside Strasburg, North Dakota. In fact, Lawrence Welk did not learn English until his early 20s, which explains the accent that became his trademark.
