I'm proud to say I'm a military brat. My dad did 32 years in the Marine Corps. He is a WWII and Vietnam vet. His service is a source of pride to me. I loved moving around as a kid, and I think it was a great way to grow up.

My Grandfather was Army during WWI, Dad - Army 3 years. My DH and I both retired from Navy (22 yrs each), oldest son going into Navy, youngest in Army for 2 yrs now. Civilians just don't get the comraderie that military people enjoy. You make friends for life.

My son, son-in-law, and stepdaughter are in branches of the military. The boys got back not long ago from Afghanistan after a year there and are going back soon. Never believe that the National Guard folks are not "real" military! Their families certainly understand the full impact, too. Love, love, love our military!!! Thank you to all of them!

My dad was in the Air Force for two years during the WW. Our son is in the Navy - served in Bahrain (with side trips to Iraq) for a 18 months, past two years in Spain, planning to switch to Army with a plan to be a Ranger.
    Cousin's son also in Navy.
