In 1969 when I was a freshman in high school, I BEGGED my mom to let me have my ears pierced by my big sis who was in nursing school. Momma said, "Nice girls don't have holes in their ears!" Well, she finally relented one day and let my sister pierce my ears. Of course, she saw how easy and quick it was and really liked the little gold studs... and decided to have hers pierced that afternoon!!! We laughed about "nice girls" for many years. When she passed, and we were going through her jewelry (per Daddy's request), I chose her diamond studs and decided to have a second piercing in each ear. By this time I was CLEARLY in my fifties... but when we went to the little shop at the mall to have my ears pierced again, I was required (by the 17 year old helping me) to show my driver's license!!! Sheesh!! Anyway, I love my little diamond studs that I wear all the time and almost always remember to put something in that original piercing!

Running1, i love your story!
i was 17 (already graduated from HS) and working at a discount store. I wanted to get mine pierced so the jewelry department manager waived the " must be 18 or older" rule and staple-gunned my ears. Quick! My mom was not happy!! She woukd bring it up every once in a while over the years. Good grief! The needle and the potato routine was not going to happen!
Oh, at the time I worked with a gal who had a silver star post in her pierced nose. On one side, half way up. I was shocked!
Recently, i have thought about getting a second set ......must be my senior-years crisis! But I won't. I lose enough earrings as it is. I cashed in some gold orphans when I bought my anniversary ring. (Yep, I like to surprise my DH with his good taste.
never had one problem with the piercings.
