Fabric from India
My nonquilting friend brought me back 4 panels of this batik from India. They are lovely, but the problem is the fabric is so thin I can read through it. I think they must have been meant for something over there. They are each about 2.5 yards long and 45 inches wide. I just don't know what to use them for. I don't think they would hold up to quilting at all and who knows what will happen when they are washed. Any ideas?

Wow! I would wash them individually to see if they bleed and if the weave tightens up. They are likely made with just a lightweight cotton that is meant to be washed. Even if they are rayon, I would wash them first to get any shrinkage out of the way.
I think they could be used in a quilt. I'd probably look at cutting them into strips so as not to loose too much of the pattern.

Shaws, throws long skirts. They are beautiful. You can always iron on some Pellon to the back to give it a little more stability. That's what I do to my parshima scarves because they will pick and run pretty easily.
