Hand cream/lotion?
I want to buy a nice hand cream or lotion for my friend's birthday. She is outdoors quite a bit...loves fishing and gardening, and her poor hands really takes a toll. Is there a good hand cream or lotion you can recommend? And while you're at it, how about a good hand cream for quilters? Something that won't leave a mess on fabric?

For the outdoorsy person I would go with something like Corn Huskers.
For the one that wont' leave a mess on fabric ... I have a hand lotion "bar" called "Quilters Friend". It comes in a lot of different scents ... but I'll warn you ... the scent is strong! They might make an unscented. It's a Soy lotion and it does not leave a stain on the fabric. I also run thread through it sometimes for hand sewing (usually binding). I bought it at a LQS and there is an e-mail listed on the bar ...[email protected]. BTW ... it fits nicely in an Altoid or Sucrets tin

Check out the one at The Honey Guy www.thehoneyguy.com. They sometimes have this in Quilt Shops, I know he is always at out local Quilt Shows.
I am not associated with them but do love their products, I use it on my hands and feet mostly, but it has worked very well.

Diane Gaudynski recommends Neutragena Emulsion Lotion...it is non-greasy. Here is a description of the lotion(from Amazon):
"Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Body Emulsion is the moisturizing alternative that continues to work when most lotions won't. This creamy lotion soothes and smoothes even problem dry skin. Lighter than a cream, it is comfortable for all-over daytime use. Richer than ordinary lotions, it delivers longer lasting softening and protection from dryness and flaking.
This glycerin rich formula leaves problem dry skin softer, smoother, protected, instantly renewed. It started with Norwegian fishermen. Faced with some of the harshest, coldest weather on earth, they used a formula that delivers concentrated levels of glycerin to dry, chapped skin providing immediate and lasting relief. Five years of independent clinical testing confirm what the fishermen knew all along. That the Norwegian Formula Hand Cream consistently outperforms other products. Now Norwegian Formula is also available to you in foot cream, body emulsion, and body moisturizer. Lighter than a cream. Richer than ordinary lotions."
