bedbugs. We moved into this old house back in March. Now I have a bug infestation. ugh!! Anyway, they did not show up until we were in there about a month. I have gotten rid of a bed and two chairs. Will be calling an exterminator. I just can't believe I am having this issue. They were either already there, which is what I think, or they came from the U-haul we rented as this is the same furniture I have had for the last 5 or 6 years and never had a problem before. Thanks for letting me vent.

You can also bring them home from just about anywhere... clothing stores, others homes, etc...
And others can bring them in when they come to visit too
I hope the exterminator gets them all the first trip for you :D:D:D

I haven't (thank goodness!!!) but you might want to look into getting mattress encasement covers. Check out the reviews on Amazon, many of which relate to bedbug protection. Allerzip is a good brand. Here is a link to one of them:

I think the exterminator is the best bet, they will know for sure the best course of action and how to handle it. My brother in law bought a 'bed bug kit' when his wife dragged home an old mattress last year.

It's entirely possible the bugs were already there. They can survive for up to 2 years on one bite, so even if the house was empty for a while, they could have been lying in wait.
I hope the exterminator can get them all.

my husband was gifted with bedbugs in his office by a less-than-fastidious employee. It was sheer he-- for them to get rid of the bugs. Lots of money, lots of wasted work hours. They are very difficult to get rid of. I suggest hiring an exterminator who specializes in bed bugs. it's worth the money.

Granddaughter brought them home from a FL trip. She borrowed my suitcase and put it back in my room when she unpacked. The exterminator could not find them except for the bites on us. He said we should bring in a dog to sniff them out or wait until they "settled in". We put all mattresses & pillows in covers. Moved clothes and books, shoes in plastic bag outside. 1 hour in 90 degree heat kills them. Then we spread diatomaceous earth from the pet store around & under the bed. They carry it back to their nest and it kils eggs and all in 2 days or less. Have not seen one in 3/4 weeks but I still keep the diatom.earth around. They generally come out between 2 and 5 am. Good luck!

That is just vile. I am sorry for your circumstances. My first thought is to call an exterminator, which I read that you have already done. It is such a shame that you had to get rid of some of your furniture, and not to mention the expense and piece of mind. Godspeed to your recovery.
