Have you ever lived outside of the US?

I lived in England for six months and it was such a fantastic experience. Not only did it open my eyes to the fact that just because a country speaks English doesn't mean they're just like the US but it also made me more aware of global events and how decisions made in the US affect the rest of the world.
Where did you live and what did you learn from that experience?

yes...when I was 7-9 lived in Eluethera Bahamas...what an experience..I can remember so much of that time like it happened just yesterday...it was an amazing place with wonderful people...
I can remember telling Santa it was too hot for him to be there, walking miles of beaches, picking fresh pineapple and papaya, coconuts, flamenco dancers, glass bottom boats, catching lobsters by hand, learning to snorkel with Pierre Cousteau (their boat was there to study FIRE reef coral), learning to skeet shoot at the age of 8, learning about sharks, barracuda's, jelly fish, eating conch fritters, chicken dolphin and yellow fin tuna...welcoming the Astronauts that splashed down there, going to the OUTDOOR theater, being in a class that taught grades 1-5 at the same time! SOOOOO many memories..and I am not 50!
Than from 92 thru 94 I lived in Naples, Italy..and toured Europe with my two boys via train! Tons more memories for sure!

Not me, have always lived in Illinois. But I have a house in England courtesy of my English husband - he has lived in: England of course, Canada, Israel, China, Turkey, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Guatamala ... and a few other places I can't remember.
When people here hear his accent and ask where he's from, he tells them Tennessee (the last place he lived before Illinois), then works backwards :)
He's been in the states so long now that his accent is middle Atlantic - people in shops in England don't believe he was born there.

Was born in Germany and lived there till I was 6 years old. While husband was in the Army spent 3 years in Germany and 3 years in Italy. Really made me appreciate all the things we take for granted here in the good old USA.

I started school in Bermuda. Dad was stationed there for 3 years. What did I learn there...mm.... You pick up the accent and folks back home do not understand you when you talk. Kinda like living in the south and visiting Pennsylvania. We wore uniforms to school and it was no big deal. and Rain makes good drinking water with a gallon of bleach every so often. (They catch the rain in cisiterns for fresh water.) An the police are call "bobbies"
