Help pulling out weed vines
I have just moved back to a home I rented and the tenant made not only a mess of the house but neglected the yard as well. I have these weed vines growing call Greenbriar. They have great big thorns and their root system is a rhizome sort of root and they send out shoots through their rhizomes making more vines grow. It is almost impossible to dig theses rhizomes out. How do I get rid of them.

A friend mixes his own herbicide with a gallon of vinegar, 1 cup (I think?) of Epson salts and 1 cup (I think?) of Dawn dishwashing soap. (He says the recipe is online, in case got the measurements of Epson salt and dishwashing soap wrong.)

Some plants and weeds that spread by roots are impossible to remove. The best you can do is control them with digging out what you can and cutting new growth as soon as you see it. If you can mow them, do so.

I feel your pain. I dealt with this pesky vine for some time. It is tough to kill, but you can do it. What I did was to cut each vine and paint on or spray on a product called "Tordon". It's a brush/tree killer. You need to get the chemical on as soon as you cut the vine so it gets into the flesh of the vine before it scars over. It will travel down to the root system to kill it. It's tedious doing it for every stem of the vine, but not that bad. I had a lot of vines, so I just poured the Tordon in a spray bottle and sprayed it on the tip of each freshly cut vine. Here is the chemical--it is blue so you can see where you have sprayed it.
