The other day I heard that they hide in the furniture during the day, like the nightstand. They also can crawl into cracks in the wall, as they are paper-thin before feeding.
Some people bring their own sheets, then wash and dry in hot dryer upon coming home.

I've heard that you should use hard suitcases, not the soft, zippered kind. If you only have the soft kind, then put ALL your items in a sealed, XLarge space bag inside the suitcase.
And keep everything (purses, suitcases, camera bags, etc) off the floor and beds. Use the luggage rack instead (after checking it).
When you get home shake all your clothes (in the suitcase) outside before throwing them into the wash.
Good luck.

I spent 11 nights in hotels in MArch and April and had no problem. Where are you going to be sleeping? I try to always stay in a Hampton Inn, they wash ALL the bedding every day.
Honestly, there are so many things to worry about, I have sort of crossed this one off my list. If I reached the age of 54 and never encountered one, I am going to keep doing what I been doing.

when you get in the door...put your suitcase in the tub while inspecting the room...
I always unmake a portion of the bed to check for little red/brown specks.
NEVER put your clothes in the drawers...I heard this from an exterminator...

Well I had a very bad experience in Fla. 5 years ago, I had bedbug bites all over. Had to go to the drug store and got all kinds of creams. I had to switch motels, take all my stuff, which most of it was brand new and wash and dry everything. I left my suitcases in the car so the heat would kill them, if they got into them. My whole vacation was shot. I called the board of health on the motel, i received one night stay refund, (big wop). I never had any problems at other motels and I have stayed in many, traveling around. Make sure you check out everything good in the motel................
