How to get a patent on an idea?
Does anyone here know how to go about getting a patent on something? My husband designed a quilt frame and I have never seen one like it, so I thought about trying to do plans for it.

I have absolutely no idea how, but I would start by reading the Patent Office's website: http://www.uspto.gov/patents/index.jsp

First... Use the NDA here...

And then see EXACTLY (with videos) how to file a provisional application for patent...
Feel free to PM or email me!

My DH currently has 7 patent plaques on the wall from his profession. Only 1 is a private patent. His advice is, "Patents are expensive. The only protection it affords you is that no one will reproduce the "exact" product you have patented. If someone were to change your design in any way, it will bypass your patent." Don't know all the rules, only what he has said.
