I need a new pad for my ironing board. All the ones at the store have polyester

I haven't seen that happen as most are made to be heat resistant. I have scorched a couple over the years but only a couple I always buy the kind that are the grey padded kind that are heat resistant. I can't answer to the ones that I have seen with printed fabrics on the tops.

I use that reflective material that you can buy - it makes a nice ironing cover. I intend to put wool felt under the entire length of my board as I like how it makes things so easy to press. Right now I'm using a 15 inch square of it.

As I made myself a big board.....24 x 48 I needed to make my own pad and cover. I used 2 layers of cotton batting and covered it in the silver metallic fabric, stapled it to the backside of my plywood board. Love it.

its what I have in mind next time I need a cover. My parents had 3 wool army blankets so I’m supplied for the rest of my life. We made a 24” x 24” ironing board for our 29 yr old granddaughter who had developed a sewing interest.
