Lily the Black Bear
#1
Lily the Black Bear just had cubs again yesterday!! The North American Bear Center has a DenCam set up in her den. I've been following her since last year when she had one cub (they named the baby Hope). When they came out of the den Lily abandoned Hope and got back together with her a few times during the spring / summer. I think at one time Hope was on her own for 6 weeks or more.
This winter the two were back together and denned up together. Now Lily has two more cubs, and poor baby Hope just has to put up with them (she's a year old now so maybe she can handle it). Not too much activity in the den yet. We can hear some sounds but haven't seen anything of the babies yet.
Check it out at http://www.bear.org.

Saw on the news that it was minus 45 degrees in Minnesota yesterday. A den with a bear fur coat seems just the kind of place to be in! Nice that big sister Hope is there to help Lily with the twins. Twins of any species are a handful.
