My granddaughters do this once a year . .they let their hair grow all year long then in June go in and have it cut and donated to Locks of Love. I think its a great thing to do .. Wish my hair would that fast and I would donate it grey, silver and white all to them !LOL ..

I love your story - you have beautiful hair and I think you look great with short hair. I am thinking of doing this myself - my hair is down to my booty now - mine does not grow fast - never had it this long - but I think this would be a good way to get my haircut and do good at the same time. Thanks for the inspiration.

I don't think mine would ever grow long enough to make a donation!! It gets very thin and scraggly past my shoulders. Every spring I have to decide for the summer weather, long enough to pull back with an elastic or short enough to stay off the neck? This year I went with short.
The new haircut looks great on you!!

congrats to you for doing this.
so, you have it in your hands. are you going to mail it someplace? my grandson now 12, grew his curly hair out several yrs ago, and then they just ended up throwing it away, i think, because they couldn't make contact with anyone to 'take it'. if i remember things correctly. But i would not tell him how to do it again, because i just did not like the long hair on him. BUT it would have made some girl very proud to have had blond curly hair.!!!!!

I had a man walk up to me in a drug store in South Florida. He offered me $500.00 for my hair. At the time it was about 3 feet long from my ears to the tip. I kindly turned him down and he said it was for his wife. She had cancer and was going through chemo and lost her hair. I told him for that amount of money he could buy her a nice wig.
