Need help with board Quilting Terms

There are so many abbreviations, initials and terms here that Im not familiar with...and it makes reading the board a little difficult for a newbie like myself. Could you please explain some of the ones you are using?
Example: "Im making a BOM quilt for my DIL with my LA machine"
That one took me awhile to figure out, so I thought I'd ask for help.
Could you list some of the terms you use and what they mean :?:
I'm new at QS (quilt speak) and NH (need help) .

I had trouble at first, too. I so wanted to read everything and understand it that I finally had to ask. The list is a big help. Being new to quilting, one doesn't always know what something means even when it is written out completely and that makes shorthand had to figure out. So the wonderful long timers wrote a list. :) Hope it helps you. :)
